The Relevance of the Servant Leadership Model Based on Mark 10:42–45 in Contemporary Church Management

The contemporary church faces the challenge of managerial secularization, where leadership models often adopt corporate business styles (CEO Syndrome) or clerical feudalism. This creates rigid hierarchical structures, abuse of power, and congregation passivity. This article aims to reconstruct the concept of church management through an exegesis of Mark 10:42-45. Using a qualitative-exegetical method, this study finds that Jesus radically deconstructs the concept of power: rejecting the 'katakyrieuousin' style (lording it over) and proposing the 'diakonos' (servant) and 'doulos' (slave) models based on the theology of sacrifice ('lutron'). The practical implication demands an inversion of the church organizational structure ("Inverted Pyramid"), where leaders function as an empowering foundation, not a ruling peak. This approach offers a solution to the church leadership crisis through a management system that is collegial, accountable, and oriented towards congregational empowerment.
